The UNBC 2013 Student Art Show was a great success. I was surprised by how many of my own students were able to make it up to the university, which was fantastic to see. It is so important for students to have their work recognized and appreciated. This is huge for students self esteem, not only in terms of the Arts, but all areas of their school. It was wonderful to see the families of the students so proud, taking pictures and telling them how wonderful their art was.
Next year some improvements for the art show could perhaps be to have a little art station/activity center for the students to create more art pieces they could make with their families/siblings/etc.

I love the idea of having an art activity station at the art gallery. It seemed like students and families were excited to be at the university and wanted a reason to stay longer but they looked through all the art within a few minutes. I think an art station would of made more of an event for the families trip to the university. I agree though the art show was a great success!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the photos and the suggestion for an activity station. One class prior to yours organized an activity centre as part of their event and it went well. That's the beauty of actually experiencing an event - you can see what might make it better and build each year on your success! But I didn't want to tell you how to do it - this was your show. And it was lovely and unique, building on all of your talents.
